My art project is centered around honoring and celebrating Black icons throughout history. By using augmented reality and portraiture, I document their stories and impact on society. The purpose of my work is to not only shed light on the contributions of these often overlooked figures, but also to examine the ongoing issues of social justice and representation faced by the Black community.
I use gesso and charcoal on craft paper to create intimate, thought-provoking images that invite the viewer to engage in a dialogue about these crucial subjects. The augmented reality component of my work takes this conversation to a new level, immersing the audience in an interactive and immersive experience.
My ultimate goal is to keep the legacies of these icons alive and inspire future generations to continue the fight for equality and justice. Through my art, I hope to bring attention to important histories and spark discussions that can lead to positive change.
